Eucharist for the fifth Sunday of Easter (10 May)

Good morning and welcome to our service.

This Sunday I have celebrated the Eucharist at St Mary's Middle Swan with two Liturgical Assistants, Gaye Moses and Sarah Simpson. The intercessions this morning were written by Gaye Moses.

The weekly readings and pew sheet, and the service booklet for the Sundays following Easter can be accessed by clicking the following links, and you may wish to print these out as the service is in video rather than audio format. Note that the service booklet will be used for the following six Sundays. The readings for this morning's service are: Acts 6.8, 10-12; 7.54-60; Ps 31.1-5, 17-18; 1 Peter 2.11-17, 21-25; John 14.1-14.

Hymns:

TIS90 I’ll praise my maker while I’ve breath
TIS246 Christ is the world’s light

TIS277 He who by a mother’s love
No YouTube recording was available for this lovely hymn by George MacDonald. However you can play the music by clicking the arrow to start the SoundCloud recording, and the words are printed below so you can sing along.

1 He who by a mother’s love
made the wandering world his own
every year comes from above,
comes the parted to atone,
binding earth to the Father's throne,
binding earth to the Father's throne.

2 But thou comest every day.
No, thou never didst depart,
never hour has been away:
always with us, Lord, thou art,
always with us, Lord, thou art,
binding, binding heart to heart.

TIS547 Be thou my vision
