Parish Finances

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, Parish Council has discontinued external group use of the Minchin Centre, which results in the loss of aprox. $9000 annual income for the parish. In addition, no parish fund-raising or parish events may be permitted during the course of the COVID-19 crisis, and this will also mean a substantial financial impact on the parish.

This means that for the period of the crisis which is expected to be at least six months, the parish will be financially reliant on the offerings of parishioners to a heavier extent than is normally the case. We understand that some people will lose part of their own income as a result of the ongoing crisis, however urge all parish members to continue their financial pledge whether or not you are able to physically attend services. We have sought urgent clarification from the Diocese regarding assistance for parishes temporarily unable to meet their financial obligations during the outbreak, however it is the case that the very continued existence of our parish will depend on your financial support.

We have for some time encouraged parishioners to give to the parish by direct debit, as this continues even during periods of absence and so helps the parish budget for unavoidable expenses including the Rector's stipend, administrative expenses and the maintenance and care of our heritage-listed buildings. During the COVID-19 crisis, we also urge you to consider direct debit, if you are not already using it, because of the risks associated with the handling of cash. If you are uncertain how to set up a direct debit, please speak with (or email) the Treasurer or Administrative Assistant (Kristy) who will be able to assist you.
